Position Summary Information

Summary

The Anatomy and Neurobiology Educator will be a full-time, temporary (~1 year) academic position with primary responsibilities in the teaching of anatomy to students in the health professions and in curricular design in related areas of the medical curriculum. The position requires abilities to explain basic science concepts, to relate these to clinical issues, and to develop virtual curricular content related to gross anatomy. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor (NTT) level. The Anatomy and Neurobiology Educator will report to Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Strong content knowledge and ability to teach in gross anatomy
Strong teaching skills in small and large group instructional settings
Ability to develop virtual content for medical education curriculum
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently AND collaboratively
Dependability

Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D., or other terminal degree in related field
Content knowledge and experience in human dissection-based anatomy instruction
Two years of teaching experience in anatomy-related content areas
Experience in curricular design, particularly related to virtual content in gross anatomy

Key Skills, Personal Characteristics, and Key Competencies

Participate in gross anatomy laboratory instruction
Develop/adapt lectures and electronic course material for gross anatomy instruction
Meet/advise students outside of class as needed
Participate in evaluation/examination of students
Participate in design and delivery of anatomy-related course material throughout the health professions curricula
Work with course directors to develop new electronic curricular content and deliver appropriate content to students in the health professions
Contribute to education-related service at NEOMED
AS NEEDED: contribute to education of post-baccalaureate students prior to matriculation to medical school

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach histology laboratory
Ability to teach neuroanatomy laboratory
Training in pedagogy

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize applicable equipment necessary for the job, as well as basic office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, sit; talk; and hear. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
